Ma Green idylle #3 – Chloé et Grégory

Aujourd’hui, je vous emmène en voyage avec l’histoire d’amour de Chloe et Gregory.
Elle, elle est australienne et vient de Sydney.
Lui, il est français et a des attaches très fortes à la Réunion et vit à Sydney depuis plusieurs années.
J’adore l’histoire de leur rencontre. J’ai adoré les voir se regarder, se parler, leur conception du monde et de leur mariage, toujours le sourire aux lèvres, plein de bienveillance et habités par un optimisme permanent. J’ai adoré leur échange de vœux et le discours de Chloe, qui est définitivement la « queen of the speeches ».
J’ai surtout adoré les rencontrer et les accompagner.
On a eu un coup de foudre immédiat. Réciproque.
Il y a des amitiés auxquelles on ne s’attend pas vraiment dans le travail, en voici une très belle. Et leur mariage était…idyllique !
Ils vous racontent tout ça mieux que moi, en français et en anglais of course et les photos de leur mariage parlent d’elles-mêmes, non ?!

Votre rencontre, vous nous la racontez? How you met?

Chloe : We met at a music festival in Sydney in 2013. I wore tights with the pattern of the universe on them, glitter on my face and hair out. Greg wore his backpack and brought his best dance moves. I felt his eyes on my back as I danced near the stage and turned to see him smiling at me. He motioned to my eyes then made a thumbs up sign with his hand. Intrigued I walked over to him and he said ‘you have beautiful eyes’. I mistook his accent for Icelandic to which he replied ‘mais non, I am French!’ He laughed at my plastic wine glass with it’s paper lid and I said ‘cool backpack’. He asked if he could kiss me to which I replied ‘sure’. We exchanged numbers and then I walked away. Hours later he texted me asking if I would meet him under the telegraph wires near the stage. We met with a knowing smile. He called me ‘star pants’ and I called him ‘Frenchie’ and so it began…

Gregory : Nous nous sommes rencontrés lors d’un festival de musique à Sydney. Le moment exact de notre rencontre est gravé dans ma mémoire. Le soleil d’été commençait à descendre et la lumière était chaude et orangée. Je regardais dans la foule autour de moi et je suis tombé sur elle. Elle a tourné la tête et m’a lancé son plus beau sourire 🙂 j’étais tout de suite sous le charme. Quelque minutes plus tard elle est venue me parler et j’avais l’impression qu’on se connaissait déjà. Après quelques minutes on s’est embrassés et 6 ans plus tard, nous voilà mariés!

Et la demande? What about the proposal ?

Chloe : For my 30th birthday I organised a dinner in the city (Sydney) for my family and closest friends. Greg’s parents were visiting and it was a big group of 26 people at one long table. When dessert was served I got up and said a small speech, thanking everyone for coming. Greg stood up and said he had something he wanted to say and asked me to come and stand next to him. I thought he was going to ask me to salsa dance (because we took classes) but he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. All our family and friends went crazy and the chef and waitstaff all ran out to watch. It was a big surprise and so nice to share it with our friends!

Gregory : J’avais décidé de la demander en mariage le jour de ses trente ans dans un restaurant. Tous nos amis et la famille étaient là et je voulais partager ce moment avec eux. Mes parents qui faisaient le voyage étaient dans la confidence. A la fin du repas j’ai appelé Chloé près de moi et elle ne s’est doutée de rien car elle pensait́ que c’était lié à son anniversaire. J’étais nerveux et j’ai commencé a trembler, ma mère m’a tendu la bague d’un geste furtif et discret et je me suis retourné et mis à genou devant elle. Tous nos amis ont explosé de joie et je n’oublierai jamais ce moment de pur bonheur en voyant sa réaction. Après les 5 minutes d’attente pour que le bruit descende dans le restaurant, elle a dit oui 🙂

Qu’est-ce qui vous a plu dans cette année de préparatifs? What did you enjoy the most in the year of planning ?

Chloe : Greg and I were in Sydney for the year prior to the wedding in Reunion so we relied heavily on our angel, Anne, to organise the wedding for us. Because I can only speak very simple french most or the organising was between Greg and Anne. What I enjoyed most was watching Greg manage the organisation with enthusiasm and a sense of joy and fun. He really stepped up and I am really proud of him.

Gregory : Le jour où nous avons rencontré Anne, le temps était gris et menaçant. Comme un symbole de sa «magic touch», en quelque instants de discussion et de rencontre, la soleil est ressorti et toutes nos angoisses par rapport à l’immense tâche d’organiser un mariage ont disparu. Pour nous l’organisation allait se faire à distance car nous vivons en Australie.
Ce qui m’a plu le plus c’est toutes nos interactions avec Anne qui à chaque fois nous faisait remonter l’excitation autour du mariage. Un crescendo d’environ un an jusqu’à l’apothéose le jour j.

En quoi votre mariage a selon vous été éco-responsable ? How do you think your wedding was eco friendly?

Chloe : Thanks to Anne, we were able to source a really amazing ‘eco’ team. We wanted a simple but ‘magical/bohemian’ style wedding which we had in Greg’s parent’s garden. We didn’t have any balloons or plastic decorations, all the furniture was hired and made from recycled wood and where possible we used glass or natural fibres.

Gregory : Anne a choisi des prestataires qui correspondaient à notre vision partagée d’un mariage éco-responsable. Des meubles recyclés jusqu’à la décoration sans plastique ou ballons, tout a été conçu dans l’idée de réduire l’impact de l’événement sur notre chère planète.

En quoi cela était important pour vous ? Why was it important to you?

Chloe : There is only one planet so what could be more important than its health? Weddings are notoriously bad at producing waste and also being on Reunion Island meant the waste produced was going to stay on the already over populated island so we wanted to reduced that were ever we could. Greg and I love being in nature and most of our relationship has been based on shared experiences in natural environments (hiking, swimming, snorkelling) so it was very important that we took that into account.

Grégory : Nous sommes très attachés à essayer de réduire notre impact sur l’environnement. La santé de notre planète est de plus en plus fragile et toutes les occasions sont bonnes pour essayer de minimiser la pollution et le gaspillage de ressources.

On the day, what was your best memory ( if you only had to pick one)

Chloe : The memory that stands out for me the most is the ceremony.

Gregory : Le moment le plus beau pour moi a été l’arrivée de Chloé. Surtout après le stress dû aux conditions météo!

Une anecdote ? An anecdote about it?

Chloe : We decided to have it on the beach at L’etang Sale les Bains. As I was driving down to the beach with my bridesmaid and mum it began to pour with rain and Greg and I had decided against a wet weather plan. Because of the rain the DJ had to move his equipment so it wouldn’t be ruined so as I walked down the aisle there was no music. Instead there was our family and friends clapping and cheering which for me, made it so much more special, personal and memorable. Luckily the rain stopped and the DJ set up and everything went perfectly.

Gregory : Le jour de notre mariage la pluie jouait a cache-cache a de multiples reprises et a failli gâcher la fête. Heureusement tout s’est finalement bien passé. Pendant la soirée lorsque nous étions en train de nous déhancher sur le dance floor, la pluie est revenue et le dj a eu la bonne idée de passer « it’s raining men» 🙂 un autre moment incroyable et inoubliable de cette journée:)

Un petit conseil pour les futurs mariés? A little advice for future brides and grooms?

Chloe : Remember why you are getting married. The most important thing on your wedding day is to marry the person you love. Everything else is just details. Life is short and you never know when your time will end so take a deep breath, let it go and enjoy the ride!

Gregory : Apprécier chaque instant. Regardez les sourires autour de vous. Se rappeler que c’est un moment tellement unique et précieux. Se laisser emporter par la magie du moment et oublier tout le reste.
